For valuable information on pursuing legal studies or legal research in Germany, please turn to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which is an organization run jointly by various German institutes of higher education.
Its purpose is to promote relations between higher edcuation institutes in Germany and abroad, particularly through exchanges of students and academics.
The DAAD supports a worldwide network of offices, lecturers and alumni associations and provides information and advice on a local basis.

For Faculty Members the DAAD offers a special "Gastdozentenprogramm" sponsoring a teaching engagement from one semester up to four years in Germany or a Research visit grants for a shorter period from one to three months.
