08.07.2010

Uni Hannover, Juristische Fakultät, HS I/909 // Hannover

This presentation will introduce the audience to the role of economics and efficiency in legal analysis and law making. In particular it will show how legal analysis assumes many of the same basic assumptions as does micro-economics. It will discuss whether court made law or legislative law is more efficient. It will introduce the audience to the different schools of law and economics (the Chicago School, the Behavioral School, and the Public Choice School). And it will introduce the audience to some of the core doctrines of the law and economics movement: the Coase Theorem, the least cost avoider, and role of efficiency vs. fairness.
